French hornist Tim McCarthy performs regularly throughout the New York area with numerous orchestras, opera companies, contemporary music and chamber ensembles. He has served as principal horn with the Orchestra of the S.E.M. Ensemble, School of American Ballet, New England Symphonic Ensemble, Gateway Classical Music Society, Blue Hill Troupe, Orchestra of the Bronx and Bronx Opera. A founding member of the Elysium Brass, Mr. McCarthy has frequently collaborated with many chamber ensembles including the New York Philomusica, Pastiche, and the Doansburg Chamber Ensemble. Mr. McCarthy has appeared as soloist with the Orchestra of the Bronx and in recital abroad in the United Kingdom and Poland as well as in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey.

He can be heard on a number of recordings encompassing a wide variety of musical genres ranging from classical to pop to contemporary; he has also premiered works on the Koch, Mode Records, and Newport Classics labels. Currently, Mr. McCarthy is a faculty member at The Children's Orchestra Society in Manhasset, NY, and at the Third Street Music School Settlement in Manhattan.
